Andy Swarbricks SNA Resource Page

Posted by Nancy White

After seeing so many social network analysis tidbits, resources and news fly by his eyes, Andy Swarrick generously took the plunge to start a SNA resource website. (Caveat: now that I’m back from vacation and work travel, I’m in massive catch up mode and have not read into the site too far).

I did enjoy reading the first bit, The 5 Ages of a Networker. I’m “Net Aware” and interested in moving forward. (The 5 are: Network Newbie, Net Aware, Net Enthusiast, Net Head, Network Guru).

I'll have to save this as a resource, thanks. Good to have a breakdown. Haven't decided where to classify myself: Aware/Enthusiast/Head, etc, partly because the community I'm responsible for at www.Wondir.com is not a social network, although it's being used partly as one and may evolve into one by sheer internal demand. Will blog about this, thx.

Not exactly sure where I fit in. As Co-Founder of Check Your Network First - what does that make me?

I would like to think Network Guru, but then...

What we do that is different is :

Social Networking + Asset Mgmt + Sharing = Savings ^ Friends

Or:

Social Networking -> Virtual Private Libraries

Andrew,

Not sure if what you do really ties up with the kind of network guru that I was trying to describe. I used it to represent someone who has developed highest level of competency and practical application of social network analysis techniques. see below

Network Guru: This is a person whose knowledge and expertise in networks extends to a number of domains within the field of networks. They are able to effective train others on how to perform and interpret the results from network analysis. They are able to use a variety of software tools and methodological approaches to map, measure and model any kind of network.

It is therefore not about ' networking' but network analysis.

Hope this helps, didn't mean to confuse the issue.

best

Andy

Andy,

I think it might be worth your while having a look at what CYNF represents as it is not your run of the mill social network. We have developed a powerful networking model (patent pending) that does more than just link friends.

Happy to discuss further if you would like outside this forum.

Regards,

Andrew
