Guestblogger Xiao Qiang published an in-depth article in New Scientist on Blogging (bo ke) in China. Beyond the sheer growth, the failed attempts of the central authority to censor the most decentralized and adaptive of media holds promise for change.
I thought it was cute when the article discusses how the blogs are so filled with chatter, so dense that they can't be filtered or censored effectively. Keyword filtering is failing to block the messages and politically things will have to change.
I guess now we are going to see the emergence of 1 billion bloggers within the next decade.
